At Myers Clark you will learn about numbers, not be treated like one.

This is a great opportunity for ambitious graduates to join a well-established firm and receive all-round audit and accountancy experience whilst qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

Based 5 minutes’ walk from Watford Junction Station, with excellent rail links both north and south, Myers Clark is a 5 partner firm that has been around for over 100 years. Our success is based on implementing our core values in all that we do: integrity, innovation and clarity.

Why you should chose Myers Clark

There are no small cogs at Myers Clark; trainees are valued members of the team and play a key part in the team’s success. The firm is friendly and supportive.  Directors and staff are professional and hardworking and the aim is for staff to be happy at work, progress and succeed.

You will be joining our 18 strong Assurance and Advisory department which is staffed by qualified and trainee accountants. The team achieves success by providing a supportive, encouraging environment and opportunities to progress. We have structured performance appraisals and a mentor scheme. Many of our trainees stay with us after qualification and continue to develop their careers with us.

What experience you will gain

You will be undertaking a variety of audit and accountancy tasks, learning on the job whilst being supervised and supported by more experienced staff. You will be encouraged to progress so you can take on more responsibility for the client work and, in your second and third years, for training more junior staff. By the end of your third year we would be expecting you to be working directly to managers, responsible for completing audit and accountancy assignments including supervising & reviewing the work of more junior staff.

From day one you will be interacting with senior staff and clients, learning the all-important soft skills that are key to becoming a successful Chartered Accountant. Advising clients on all aspects of their business is a big part of what the senior members of the team do and as you gain experience you will be given the opportunity to develop these skills.

We have a diverse client base. Clients operate across many sectors and vary in size. No two clients and no two assignments are the same. As well as standard trading businesses, a substantial number of our clients are charities, pension funds, clubs and property management companies giving our trainees the opportunity to get much wider experience and make informed choices when considering their post-qualification options. Clients are mainly based throughout Hertfordshire and Greater London, but a few are a little further afield.

What remuneration package we are offering

You will get a competitive, market rate salary which is reviewed 6 monthly; a fully funded study package, including paid study leave; Christmas week, all bank holidays and 4 weeks additional annual leave entitlement; payment of ICAEW fees and re-imbursement of work related expenses. You will also be eligible to join the contributory pension scheme and non-contributory health insurance plan.

What we are looking for

We are looking for ambitious graduates who have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in accountancy; have the commitment and drive to successfully complete three years of training and pass professional exams; and are appreciative of the advantages of training at Myers Clark.

Academically we require the minimum of a 2:1 degree from a UK University, 3 A levels (excluding General Studies) grade B or above and GCSE English and Maths grade B or above. Your degree does not need to be accountancy or finance related but should require analytical skills; essay writing; reasoned arguments and be academically robust and balanced.
