Moore Kingston Smith are proud to be an award-winning top 20 firm of accountants and business advisers. With 62 partners and more than 500 staff across multiple sectors in the UK and internationally, we advise more than 7,000 owner-managed businesses, not for profit organisations and private individuals.

Our work is complex, but our approach is simple: our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Moore Kingston Smith’s origins go back 95 years and many of our client relationships span decades.

As a trainee chartered accountant at Moore Kingston Smith you will train as a general practitioner rather than a specialist and therefore receive a wide range of experience across audit, accountancy and taxation. Moore Kingston Smith’s wide range of clients means that you will benefit from working with an interesting mix of industries and businesses. We encourage early responsibility and ensure that as you progress you are given the opportunity to work on all aspects of an assignment.

You will receive first class training within a supportive environment helping you to succeed in both your work experience and ACA exams. Our ACA pass rates are exceptional and are consistently well above the ICAEW’s average, highlighting our success at training and supporting graduates through the ACA qualification. Our trainees all study together in the same class at college so you will have the opportunity to build up strong relationships and can help support each other through studying and exams.

We are big enough to be able to offer a wide variety of experience but we’re still the kind of place where personality is valued and individual achievement gets recognised. Our personal approach means you will get to know all of our Partners, who will be accessible to you and will be genuinely committed to your training and development.

There is always plenty going on in our friendly offices, with a wide variety of social activities. We have a firm wide social committee with representatives from every level within the firm, who are always looking for suggestions and volunteers to help organise events.

After qualification, the continuing growth of the firm means that there are opportunities for rapid career progression if you can offer the commitment and dedication that we look for. Once you are qualified you can be promoted to manager level within two years. Promotion is based purely on merit. There are opportunities at Partnership level; a number of our current Partners began as trainees and have progressed to Partnership. You may decide to stay in general practice or you may choose to specialise after qualification in areas such as Taxation, Corporate Finance, Litigation Support or Corporate Recovery. Once you have qualified we recognise the need for you to continue your training and will keep you updated on technical changes within the profession; this is provided through our in-house training programme.

As a top 20 UK audit and accountancy firm, our client teams give business owners, charities and private clients all the support they need to achieve their goals. The challenge of providing that service to such an entrepreneurial client base means that we need high quality teams of our own; well organised, motivated and enthusiastic about our clients and their businesses.

To achieve that, we make sure that a Moore Kingston Smith career is as rewarding as possible – and that doesn’t just mean providing an attractive salary and benefits package! We ensure that all our professional and support staff receive continuous training across a wide range of relevant technical, industry and management topics, and we run a popular programme of social activities specifically designed to ensure that everyone in the firm gets to know a broad selection of colleagues. We also ensure there are career progression opportunities wherever possible – and just to prove the point, several of our partners joined Moore Kingston Smith as trainees!
