Description
An exciting career opportunity to join a fast growing company in Halifax as an AAT Apprentice Accountant. We are looking to take on a recent school leaver who is interested in a career in Accountancy but who does not wish to go off to University. We would be offering a valuable insight for anyone wanting to pursue a career in accounting and finance through a varied job role and at the same time support them towards AAT Professional Qualification (up to level 4). The apprentice program would initially be for a 2 year term and after that time there may be an opportunity for the right candidate to extend their apprenticeship with us and continue their studies and working towards a professional (ACA) qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales

Job description
- Processing transactions (eg timesheets, sub-contractor costs, payments etc) onto Sage 200 job costing system to ensure contract costing info is kept up to date
- Producing job costing information and analysis for Contracts Managers
- Recording staff expenses and credit card transactions and reconcile to statements
- Assist purchase ledger function with logging, scanning and processing of invoices
- Assisting other members of finance team across their own roles as required
- Ad hoc analysis and reports as required by finance director and finance manager
- Intrastat reporting and HMRC returns
- Archiving and filing as required on occasions
- Stock recording and reconciling
- There could be an opportunity to do some work in other parts of the business
Hours of work
8:30-5:30 with an hour break for lunch (5 days per week)
Starting salary
£11,000 per annum

20 plus 8 public holidays

Qualifications
A level grades (achieved or predicted) minimum BCC or equivalent (preferably to include maths)
GCSE – must include Maths min grade B (or equivalent)
Personal qualities
Confident and respectful communicator. Keen desire to learn and develop. Good sense of humour. Experience of Microsoft Office (excel & word) would be an advantage.
