Job Description

The ideal candidate will have had at least 3-5 years’ experience within a Financial Crime role in the financial services. They will ideally have a Degree or equivalent professional qualification such as the CAMS certification or the ICA Diploma in AML / Financial Crime, or are working towards obtaining one. The candidate will be joining a fast moving, dynamic environment. Their commitment to the role will ensure that they make a meaningful and positive impact on the smooth running of the Bank.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:


  • Support MLRO in the design and implementation of AML, sanction controls, financial crime-related and anti-bribery and corruption controls

  • Review regulatory guidance and change, assessing its impact and making recommendations to MLRO

  • Maintain and develop financial crime risk assessments, ensuring reviews are conducted in line with policy and reported to the Risk Committee

  • Ensuring accurate and appropriate Management Information is received by the MLRO and Risk Committee on all aspects of Financial Crime

  • Act as the Bank’s subject matter expert in relation to all finance crime matters.

  • Determine outcome of suspected frauds and take action in respect of reporting requirements

  • Ensuring Enhanced Customer Due Diligence is completed in accordance with policy and appropriate ‘red flag’ indicators and transactional monitoring is in situ

  • Undertake assurance and monitoring activity and report findings to key stakeholders and track actions through to closer

  • Undertake timely and accurate investigations of any Suspicious Activity Report raised, recommending actions to the MLRO

  • Liaising with law enforcement and other banks, establishing and managing the ongoing relationships with financial crime counterparts

  • Design and delivery of Financial Crime training across the Bank



  • Practical financial crime experience or transferable skills

  • International Compliance Association Financial Crime qualification desirable, or equivalent professional qualification

  • Current knowledge of money laundering, sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption and market abuse laws/regulations

  • Good understanding and knowledge of JMLSG

  • Sound knowledge of AML Risk Based Approach concepts

  • Extensive experience in a financial crime assurance and oversight role is essential

  • Knowledge of the regulatory and legislative requirements and industry practice for financial crime

  • Experienced in testing, sampling and assuring processes and controls to mitigate risk

  • A thorough understanding of regulations and legislations relating to AML/CTF (Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorist Financing), Fraud ABC and Sanctions
