Graduate Trainee Accountant (ACA)
Camerons Accountancy is well established Oxfordshire accountancy firm with a relatively small, yet diversely talented team. Recent growth has driven the need for us to expand our team, so we are looking for two bright graduates to join us as ACA (ICAEW) trainees.
We are an approachable firm, set in a beautiful rural business park, just outside of Oxford with easy access to the major train stations and roads. We are not your typical local accountancy practice. We do offer a full array of typical accountancy services including preparation of financial statements, tax and advisory but also provide our clients with other specialised areas, such as audit, M&As, R&D and start-ups, which are often reserved for larger sized firms.
We have a broad client base covering many different industries and sectors. This diverse offering allows us to provide a fantastic training environment where trainees can develop and apply their understanding of accountancy to all the ACA modules daily and go beyond what is learnt at college. We see this as an ideal setting for any ambitious ACA trainee, offering a variety of job roles that the bigger firms cannot. One day you can be auditing, the next looking at IHT planning etc, constantly challenging your knowledge and gaining you valuable experience. We truly believe this is the best environment for a trainee to develop and learn their chosen profession and have had many successful trainees go on to bright futures.
We are offering a training agreement, the fundamentals of which are set out by ICAEW, where you will work towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. We are offering a challenging and exciting role where you can learn and work simultaneously. During technical working days, you will be exposed to all areas of the practice. You will work with all team members and be able to learn first-hand from highly experienced colleagues.
To progress with a career in accountancy, knowledge and training is required, but communication, attention to detail and other soft skills are vital. You will also quickly learn the importance of how to communicate and build a professional relationship with clients, an area that we pride ourselves on. Our ability to expose trainees to client facing situations from an early time ensures that these key skills are developed outside of the classroom.
Tuition is a fundamental part of the training agreement and we offer a full study support package. We know that all students are different, so we allow flexibility to arrange classroom tuition with the provider of your choice and location that most suits you. We have found this allows students to select the training provider most fitting to their personality and learning styles, in turn promoting exam pass rates, of which our previous student have had very high success rates. We are also happy for student to arrange their own study timetable, at a pace to fit in with the work schedule, which is often highly valued by our past and present trainees.
We are looking for talented graduates with excellent communication skills and a desire to train. An accounting degree is not a prerequisite, indeed we relish trainees with diverse university backgrounds, though of course any previous accounting experience is valued. You will need to be a self-starter, be determined and motivated to pass exams and achieve your goal of completing the training agreement.
We will invest time in your learning experiences, give the support and opportunities necessary for you to succeed, but you must be driven and committed in order to become a Chartered Accountant and thrive in our unique setting. Also working within a small team, you must be personable not only with clients but with colleagues; our collaborative philosophy means good office relationships are key.
If this opportunity appeals to you, please complete the below application. We do not have a set intake date for these positions and therefore applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
