The opportunity

An exciting opportunity for an outstanding business/finance graduate to join the finance team of a rapidly growing company. The company has ambitious plans to grow from its current turnover of c£25m to over £50m and beyond over the next 3-5 years. As such it is looking to bring in new talent into its finance team to help support the future growth and build a successful career as the company strives towards its business objectives. The company will provide full study support for the successful candidate to obtain a professional accountancy qualification (ACA or CIMA).

Job description

The duties set out below are relevant to the first 1-2 years of the role but these will develop into a more fuller and higher level involvement in the finance function as their skills evolve.

 

  • Processing transactions (eg timesheets, sub-contractor costs, payments etc) onto Sage 200 job costing system to ensure contract costing info is kept up to date
  • Producing job costing information and analysis for Contracts Managers
  • Recording staff expenses and credit card transactions and reconcile to statements
  • Assist purchase ledger function with logging, scanning and processing of invoices
  • Assisting other members of finance team across their own roles as required
  • Ad hoc analysis and reports as required by finance director and finance manager
  • Intrastat reporting and HMRC returns
  • Archiving and filing as required on occasions
  • Stock recording and reconciling
  • There could be an opportunity to do some work in other parts of the business  

Hours of work

8:30-5:30 with an hour break for lunch (5 days per week, total 40 hours)

 

Starting salary

Approx. £23,000 per annum (reviewed annually) plus study support

 

Holidays

28 including public holidays (increase by 1 day after each complete calendar year of service up to maximum of 33 including public holidays)

 

Start date

1 September 2021 (or sooner if available)

 

Term of employment

Full time, permanent

 

Academic requirements:

High level of intellect evidenced by strong GCSE and A levels with high grades in numerical subjects

Achieved/Projected degree grade of 2:1 minimum – ideally in a finance or business related subject

Personal/other qualities

Confident and respectful communicator. Evidence of participation in team events (sporting or otherwise). Keen desire to learn and develop. Good sense of humour. Experience of Microsoft Office (excel & word) would be required.
