We are based to the East of London in Loughton in a lively centre of town location 2 minutes’ walk from the Central Line tube station. 

We’re looking to recruit a number of graduate trainee accountants who aspire to become chartered accountants.  We have high standards and are looking for candidates with excellent academic qualifications as well as drive, ambition and a thirst for success.

What you can expect from a career with us

Haslers has a great mix of clients including SME business, groups of companies, partnerships, limited companies, charities and High Net Worth individuals. You will work on both audit and accounts jobs across a range of industry sectors and also have the opportunity to be trained in, and work on, specialist audits (FCA, Solicitors, Charities & NFP, Education).

The variety and depth of assignments will give you the opportunity to gain broad business awareness to use as a basis for your career progression. 

You will be given early responsibility and won’t just be sat behind a desk all day. You will be out at clients within your first few weeks and, along with other members of the audit team, will be the “face of Haslers”. There are also opportunities to gain experience in other departments whilst training (Insolvency, Corporate Finance, Tax).

You will have regular meetings with Partners, who have an open-door policy, and take an active interest in the development of all our graduates. 

There is huge potential at Haslers to progress within the Firm. 70% of our Partners and half of our managers were promoted internally, and 17% of our Partners joined our graduate training programme just like you are now.

Haslers are committed to CSR and, via our registered charity Haslers Foundation, organise fundraising events and support local causes whether that be a local hospice, children’s centre, school or a range of other charities. Our graduates are encouraged to get involved with the work of Haslers Foundation.

Once ACA qualified, staff have been offered secondments and the chance to join another team in the firm to broaden their skill set. 

At Haslers we work hard but recognise that you do have a life outside of the firm. We run team events, social activities and offer all staff a volunteering day - all of which help you to switch-off from work / study and enable you to interact socially with your colleagues.


Your route to the ICAEW (ACA) qualification

You will enter employment under a 3 year training contract, during which you will receive a wide range of practical experience while studying for your professional examinations; all of which leads to the ICAEW (ACA) Chartered Accountant qualification.

You will be provided with support and mentoring to assist you with the ACA exams, as well as being able to tap into advice from Trainees who are further on in their studies.  This support means that we have a good track record for students passing all their exams first time.

Practical training to equip you for your work with us is provided by our training partner (Mercia incorporating SWAT) and more technical training focusing on the exams is provided by professional tutors from Kaplan. Both are leading training organisations in the profession, and this is supplemented by in-house workshops and training sessions. You will be given paid study leave and we also cover the costs of all courses and examinations for first attempts.

Minimum entry requirements

  • 2:2 degree in ANY subject
  • A minimum of 300 UCAS points (old UCAS tariff) or 120 UCAS points (new UCAS tariff) or equivalent, from your top three A level grades (first attempts only).
  • AS Levels and General Studies are not accepted
  • GCSE Maths – grade B or above
  • GCSE English Language – grade B preferred but will consider grade C or above
  • Finance work experience preferred
  • Full driving licence

Additional skills:

It is not just about academic success though. Haslers are interested in what transferable skills you can bring to the business.  These may have been gained via work experience, volunteering, travel, extra curricular activities etc.
