Job Description

Looking to start a career in taxation or financial planning post-graduation?  Want to work in an organisation where you are an individual rather than a number?  Then BHP may be just the place for you!

We are now inviting applications for our 2019 intake of graduate trainees. Starting with us in September 2019, there are two routes available, although there is no guarantee that all routes are offered every year in every location:

  • Financial Planning – encompasses study support for the CII Level 4 Diploma qualification initially. Successful students will typically then complete further study for the CII Level 6 Advanced Diploma which builds on prior study at Level 4 to develop and assess specialist planning capabilities and those wishing to become a Chartered Financial Planner.
  • Taxation – encompasses study support for the Tax Technician (ATT) qualification initially. Successful students will typically then complete further study for the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification under a Level 7 Apprenticeship.

Working within our experienced, friendly teams at one of our regional locations, you will gain insight into a whole host of business scenarios on a variety of clients - from individuals and sole traders, through to national and international organisations. Your practical work experience will consolidate the learning from your professional studies, ultimately culminating in your successful qualification to Chartered status.

With day-time professional training provided, plus the support and guidance of our experienced team of partners and senior managers, you will develop your interpersonal skills and commercial knowledge to attain success.

One of the fundamentals to BHP's success is the natural ability our colleagues have to develop new partnerships with clients and build on existing client relationships - we pride ourselves on listening to our clients and being just a phone call away whenever they needs us, whether it's to guide them through difficult times, consolidate success or suggest strategies for growth; our graduate trainees form a key part of our client relationships - bringing fresh perspective and ideas to the table and really helping to make a difference.

If you think one of these career paths is perfect for you, please visit the Careers page of our website for more information.

To be considered, you will need to be on course for a minimum of a 2:1 degree and have 112 UCAS tariff points (excluding General Studies) and a minimum Grade B in English Language and Maths at GCSE.

You will also need to demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to work with BHP and provide our clients with the high quality of professional service which they expect from us. Personality and inter-personal skills are fundamental to BHP’s success and are just as important as academic ability – our clients expect to deal with approachable, responsive people who communicate at their level and instinctively understand their commercial concerns; people who will go that extra mile to find a solution and offer them the very best support and advice.

Please do not apply via this advertisement; instead, please complete the application form on the Careers page of BHP's website -
