Job Description

The UK Finance Apprenticeship Programme is ideally suited to ambitious school-leavers who are seeking to pursue a career in finance and accounting by completing a L7 apprenticeship with the ICAEW. This will set you well on your way towards becoming a fully qualified chartered accountant (ACA).

Based in our offices in the City of London, the apprenticeship offers an exciting three-year structured programme of practical work experience within our finance department, coupled with a closely monitored and structured programme of tuition provided by a top firm of external tutors. The training will consist of courses at the tutors’ offices, private study, regular assessments, as well as on the job training.  Working alongside our experienced colleagues, the programme will enable you to develop the required knowledge, skills and behaviours in order to qualify as an Accountancy Professional. 

What sort of work will I be doing?

Year 1: Your foundation year will help you transition into life at UK Finance, and develop your professional skills and knowledge, particularly in respect of core accounting and financial transaction processing.

Years 2 and 3: You’ll continue your professional development through a range of learning opportunities and build your technical skills through exposure to the full range of our finance function’s activities. You will continue to progress in terms of your studies and work towards completing your Level 7 ACA qualification and apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, opportunities to progress and take wider responsibilities within the finance department in areas such as Financial Control and Business, Planning & Analysis are expected to be available.

As a minimum requirement candidates must have obtained the following:

  • 3 A level passes (grades A*-C), or equivalent, plus
  • 6 GCSE passes at grades A-C/grades 9-4, including Mathematics and English language at a minimum of grade C/grade 5

Duration 

  • 36 months, starting in April or early May, with the expectation the apprentice will go on to complete the end point assessments administered by the ICAEW.
