Job purpose:

The McDonald's Trainee Graduate Accountant scheme is open for applications now, for a late 2020 / early 2021 start.

Principle Responsibilities:

We have an outstanding opportunity to join McDonald's Finance Graduate Scheme, with the right candidate starting in either late 2020 or early 2021. The role is a structured, broad three-year rotational scheme specifically crafted for results-oriented graduates looking to join a robust Finance team. During the course of this opportunity you will be encouraged to complete up to 16 exams over, a 3-year period, in order to gain accreditation to a chartered accounting body of your choice (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). The scheme will provide continuous rotational opportunities and is an incredible opportunity for a recent graduate to gain experience in some of the following areas:


- Global Business Services (GBS) – Accounting & Finance
As part of this team, you will become an accounting and finance subject matter specialist. Ensuring that all accounting transactions are recorded timely, accurately and with compliance to relevant standards and principles. You will provide support and mentorship across the organisation on all financial matters and find opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes to ensure the robustness of the financial documents and reporting.

- Operations Finance
In this area you will be assisting in the provision of key financial support to our restaurant operators
(Franchisees), working with partners throughout the company to further improve our restaurants financial position.

- Strategic Finance
In this team you will be working with a wide range of partners, acting as a true financial business partner to help thrust our business strategy and strengthen our brand for the future.

- Financial Reporting
As a member of the Financial Reporting team, you would be a diligent finance advisor for the company as a whole. Providing in depth financial analysis of how our business has performed to help drive future decisions to grow our business. You will also be hands on learning and guiding on technical accounting and reporting standards.

- CAPEX Accounting
You will become a trusted financial business partner, providing financial expertise to aid investment decisions across the entire business and help to maintain a current and accurate fixed asset ledger. You will be helping to appraise investment decisions and proving financial analysis to key partners.
The new Trainee will initially rotate through roles within the GBS Finance team, based in Sutton Coldfield (near Birmingham), and then move to our Head Office in East Finchley, North London where they will complete their training.

Please note at this time the role will be remote in line with current government mentorship, as this changes the position will be office based.

Upon completion of the scheme there are significant opportunities within the Finance team to seek more significant leadership roles. The scheme offers an extraordinary start to a career within Finance, with previous trainees who have finished the scheme going on to hold senior management positions across the business. Examples include our current Finance Director, who finished the scheme 11 years ago, our Head of GBS Finance who completed the scheme 18 years ago, and our Head of Strategic Finance who completed the scheme 7 years ago.


Relationships:
• To collaborate closely with external suppliers and all internal Corporate and Regional departments.
• Establish links with the wider Finance team.
• Develop a close working relationship with key contacts in Construction & Property, Supply Chain, Marketing and IT teams.

Knowledge and Experience:
We are looking for a results-oriented, self-motivated and hardworking graduate to join our fast-paced finance team. The successful candidate will have graduated with a 2:1 in any relevant subject area and should expect to get going quickly! The candidate should have at least 3 B's (Or equivalent UCAS Points) at A-Level and a passion for Finance.
