Our R&D Incentives team is more like an R&D family. We are 21 strong and we take care of each other. We’re building something special that will endure. A high-performance unit comprised of people from a wide range of backgrounds including marine engineering, pharmacology, biomechanics, physicists, chemists and even an astrophysicist. About the role...
The Government sets aside c. £6bn every year to give to UK companies to help them fund their R&D. The more R&D a company does, the more of the £6bn they can get access to. Our R&D team are experts in the Government’s rules and claim process, defined in corporation tax legislation, which companies have to follow to claim some of the money.
On a day-to-day basis you'll do a variety of different things, but a big focus of the job is meeting all sorts of companies either in person or via videocall, talking with their technical/scientific staff to understand more about their R&D and pulling together their R&D incentives claim. You’ll meet clients from day one and get a ringside view of some of the most innovative developments happening in the UK. You’ll also develop your understanding of how R&D incentives claims interact with a company’s corporation tax affairs.
You'll help prepare reports to go to the Government explaining how and why the company qualifies to get some of the £6bn. Once approved the company will receive the cash which can then be put back into doing even more clever things!
We deliberately ensure our new joiners have a varied role including getting involved in finding new companies for us to work with and helping with internal things such as marketing, organising socials, recruitment etc. We think it’s key for everyone to understand how the R&D business runs, top-to-bottom and inside-out. You might be running it one day so you need to know.
We provide a comprehensive training programme including the option to study for the Association of Technician (ATT) qualification.
