School/College Leaver - Accounts Trainee Role

We are recruiting for a school or college leaver to join as an Accounts trainee to work in the Small Business Team in our Central London office. This position would suit school and college leavers who are looking to start their career within the accountancy field.  You will work with small business clients across a wide variety of sectors and provide support with bookkeeping, management accounts and year-end accounting.

The Small Business Team trainee role offers a competitive salary and benefits package  including study support of AAT alongside “on the job” training and college based tuition as part of the AAT Professional Accounting Technician apprenticeship.

After successful and satisfactory completion of the 24 month apprentice programme you would be offered the chance to apply for an AAT training contract in the Small Business Team or within another team within the office.

 

The Accounts Trainee duties will be:
 

Accounts preparation:

  • Reconcile purchase, sales and general ledger entries;
  • Prepare accounting schedules such as fixed asset registers;
  • Make postings using the firm’s accounting and working papers software;

Bookkeeping:

  • Prepare income and expense analysis using the firm’s cloud bookkeeping software;
  • Use this data to prepare quarterly VAT returns;
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts;
  • Liaise with clients to complete filings and to answer any queries

Other:

  • Prepare returns and other documents for filing with Companies House or HM Revenue and Customs as instructed;

Experience

  • Some work experience in an accounting or financial role is desirable 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 112 UCAS Points (based on the new UCAS Tariff)
  • GSCE Maths and English Language both at grade B [level 6] or above

  • Good IT skills including use of Excel
