Ortus Secured Finance
Who are we
Ortus Secured Finance is a short-term lender, providing business loans from £100k to £25m for up to 3 years. Our head office is in Marylebone, Central London and we also have offices in Belfast, Manchester and Glasgow.
What you can expect
You will be working from our Marylebone office and will immediately play an important role in our drive to improve the financial side of our business. You will be joining at an exciting time as we have many interesting transactions ongoing and are building and implementing new systems and processes.
There is a great deal of opportunity for growth within Ortus if you can demonstrate your ability to perform. Your effort will be rewarded with more responsibility and more challenging work.
We are an entrepreneurial business and as such you will gain exposure to other areas of the business on an ad hoc basis. Whilst not included in the job description, you may gain experience in areas such as credit, lending, and fundraising. As such, this role may be a good fit for someone interested in gaining corporate finance deal experience in a time where such exposure may be limited at trainee level, [but we must emphasise that this would not be part of the trainee’s day to day role at the outset].
Above all, this is the opportunity to start your career at a firm where you can get genuine transaction experience and make a real difference.
The salary will be competitive and increase in line with the successful completion of each stage of the training contract. A bonus will also be paid for each stage completed with first time passes.
What we expect
The successful candidate will be driven, have good attention to detail and have a genuine desire to contribute to the continued success of our business. You will make a difference immediately and will be expected to complete the tasks required of you.
We take our obligations towards your training extremely seriously and we will expect the same serious approach from you, working diligently towards becoming a chartered accountant.
For us to do our jobs effectively it is imperative that we work together. The successful candidate will be a team player and take direction well. A self-starter who does not require constant supervision to complete the tasks they are given but with the confidence to ask questions where the best way to complete a task is unclear.
The successful candidate will have a strong academic background with at least a 2:1 from a top 10 university. A numerically orientated degree is likely to be an advantage, but not a requirement.
Experience from a Big 4 accountancy firm and/or a summer internship at a large corporate or financial institution would also be a positive.
The candidate will have excellent written English, be strong numerically and have good skills in Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel. These will be tested as part of the interview process under exam conditions.
The right to work in the UK.
