This is a great opportunity for two trainees to join a well-established firm in August 2021 to receive all-round audit and accountancy experience whilst qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

You will be joining our 23 strong Assurance & Advisory Department which comprises qualified and trainee accountants supported by a small administration team. Together the team achieves success by providing a supportive & encouraging environment and plenty of opportunities to progress. We have structured performance appraisals and a mentor scheme. Many of our trainees choose to stay with us post qualification and continue to develop their careers with us.

What experience you will gain

You will be undertaking a variety of audit, accountancy and accounting tasks, learning on the job whilst being supervised and supported by more experienced staff members. You will be encouraged to progress and year on year you will be given more responsibility for the completion of client work. As you progress you will provide training and support for more junior staff. By the end of your training period we would expect you to be working directly with  managers whilst being responsible for completing audit and accountancy assignments, including supervising & reviewing the work of more junior staff.

From day one you will be interacting with senior staff and our clients, learning the all-important soft skills that are key to becoming a successful Chartered Accountant. Advising clients on all aspects of their business is a big part of what the senior members of the team do and, as you gain experience, you will be given the opportunity to develop these skills.

We have a diverse client base that operate across many sectors and vary in size. No two clients and no two assignments are the same. As well as standard trading businesses, a substantial number of our clients are charities, pension funds, clubs and property management companies giving our trainees the opportunity to get much wider experience and make informed choices when considering their post-qualification options. Clients are mainly based throughout Hertfordshire and Greater London, but a few are a little further afield.

What remuneration package we are offering

You will get a competitive, market rate salary which is reviewed on a six monthly basis and increases as you gain experience and pass exams; a fully funded study package including paid study leave and extra days for exam preparation; four weeks annual leave with an extra three days over Christmas whilst our office is closed and all bank holidays; payment of ICAEW annual fees; and re-imbursement of all work related expenses. You will be required to join the contributory pension scheme and may opt in to the non-contributory health insurance plan. We also have a non-contributory Employee Assistance Programme to which all staff are enrolled.

What we are looking for

We are looking for ambitious people with a genuine interest in pursuing a long term career in accountancy, who have the commitment and drive to successfully complete on the job training and pass professional exams and who appreciate the advantages of training at a firm like Myers Clark.

Graduate

Graduates join us having completed an academic degree course at a UK University.

Minimum entry requirements are:

Maths & English GCSE Grade A* - B                             plus

UK University degree Grade 2.1 or above

Whilst an Accounting and Finance related degree would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. We will accept any degree which demonstrates a high level of analytical skills, essay writing, reasoned arguments and be academically robust and balanced.

As well as graduates, for the right candidate we will consider school leavers:

18+ School Leaver

Trainees join us having completed their A level or BTEC studies.

Minimum entry requirements are:

Maths & English GCSE Grade A* - B                             plus

3 ‘A’ Levels Grade A* - B                                               and/or

BTEC Level National Diploma in Business Grade DD
