We have some great opportunities to join a well-established, award winning firm to commence in September 2021. Our three-year graduate programme will take you on a journey from graduate to professionally qualified chartered accountant.

We are a medium sized firm in the West Midlands who have a strong reputation on our training programme and ensuring graduates achieve the career they want.

Why choose Ballards?

You will not be pigeonholed or limited in the exposure you receive when you join our firm. You will be given the opportunities to work on a variety of exciting projects from day one and help provide a great client service.

Trainees are valued members of our team and play a key role in the team’s success. The firm is friendly and supportive with an open-door policy to everyone.  Our outlook is to ensure everyone is happy whilst at work and to find the right balance between work and other outside of work commitments whilst giving each person the tools to progress and succeed.

As well as your assigned Buddy to guide you through your first few months in the life of working for Ballards, you have the option of a mentor to guide you through your career and shape your future.

Our team achieves success by providing a supportive & encouraging environment with plenty of opportunities to progress. You will have regular updates with your line manager and counsellor as well as structured appraisals throughout the year. We have many career successes where graduates who join us are not only still with us but have had very successful careers.

What experience will I gain?

You will be learning on the job whilst being supervised and supported by more experienced team members alongside studying for your exams. By the end of your training period, we would expect you to be working directly with managers whilst being responsible for completing client assignments, including supervising & reviewing the work of more junior staff.

From day one you will be interacting with senior staff and our clients, learning the all-important soft skills that are key to becoming a successful Chartered Accountant. Advising clients on all aspects of their business is a big part of what the senior members of the team do and, as you gain experience, you will be given the opportunity to develop these skills.

Working with clients in many different sectors, you will get a better understanding of the complete business lifecycle. This will also give insight into any area of accountancy you wish to specialise in. In addition, you will enjoy being part of a firm that has a strong sense of purpose.

What remuneration package we are offering

You will get a competitive, market rate salary which is reviewed on a regular basis; a fully funded study package including paid study leave and extra days for exam preparation; 21 days annual leave in addition to the bank holidays; fully supported training programme through ICAEW. You will be required to join the contributory pension scheme and may opt into the contributory health insurance plan. We provide all team members with access to our Employee Assistance Programme. We also give all team members a Volunteering Charity Day – a day where you can support your chosen charity through volunteering without the need to take your annual leave. Employee Referral Bonus, career coaching, further learning and development opportunities.

What do we look for?

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in pursuing a career with a professional services company with the commitment and drive to successfully complete on the job training, pass professional exams and gain the right level of training and experience from experienced peers.
