Marketing Contract Compliance Specialist
3-Year ICAEW training contract (ACA) for a recent university graduate
Full Time, Permanent
UK based, but with international travel (post-Covid)
Home office based, working remotely
Access to an international airport

Overview
A fantastic opportunity for a university graduate to train as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and become a specialist in the advertising and media industry, working with some of the world’s best known brands and their agencies.

About Financial Progression
Financial Progression is a rapidly growing boutique consultancy specialising in helping household name brands understand the extent to which their marketing services agencies (media, creative, PR, events etc.) are operating in accordance with their contracts and financial best practice. Belying our size, we are one of the most highly respected firms in our field in the world and were the first such specialist to operate as an ICAEW member firm (since 2009).

About You
You are a recent graduate and possess an enquiring yet logical mind, tenacity, resilience, the ability to adapt to changing requirements, an impressive academic record, rock-solid integrity and, perhaps unusually for an aspiring accountant, excellent interpersonal and listening skills. In addition, you have a strong desire to learn and be part of the advertising and media industry and are confident in taking on responsibility.

About the Role
As our first graduate trainee, this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual who prefers to take the road less travelled. The successful candidate will secure a 3-year ICAEW training contract (ACA qualification) and become part of team that operates more like one in industry than in a Big 4 / traditional accountancy practice. Indeed we believe that the training experience you will receive at Financial Progression will be more practical than at a Big 4 firm and more rounded and technically challenging than at a media or advertising agency.
Reporting into our Global Audit Manager, our class-leading, industry specific training programme will enable you to understand how agencies work from a commercial, contractual and financial perspective, equipping you to assess what is good practice and what is not, both commercially and ethically.

In addition to your professional exam training, you will be involved in contract compliance audits for clients and accounting activities in our own business, with the potential for a secondment to the finance team of one of our clients in the third year. On completion of your training contract, while we would prefer that you continue your career with us, you will also be in demand from agencies and the marketing finance teams of large advertisers.

Responsibilities

  • Strive to pass professional exams first time
  • Liaise with clients and their agencies to gather data
  • Perform data cleansing and transformation to enable audit analysis
  • Analyse the data and present findings to the lead auditor
  • Conduct detailed audit tests remotely or on the agency’s premises
  • Document your work in accordance with our quality assurance standards
  • Conduct book-keeping / accounting work for the firm’s own statutory accounts
  • Support Managers and Directors in client presentations and deliverables

Remuneration
Competitive annual salary, benefits and bonus as part of a 3-year ICAEW ACA training contract.

Other Requirements
British, EU, EEA or Swiss passport holder
Hold the right to work indefinitely in the UK
Resident in the UK
Provide evidence of academic qualifications
Live within 90 minutes of an international airport
